Dip Strip Test for Cocaine (COC)
COC Urine Dip Test
The Cocaine (COC, Crack) Drug Urine Dip Test is a sensitive one step rapid test for qualitative detection of COC and primarily benzoylecgonine as metabolites in urine.
Negative: Two distinct colored lines appear. One colored line should be in the control line region (C), and another colored line should be in the test line region (T).
Positive: One colored line appears in the control region (C). No line appears in the test line region (T).
INVALID: Control line (C) fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for the control line failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test using a new test.
Cocaine is an alkaloid present in Coca leaves (Erythyroxine coca). Its pharmacological properties, such as stimulation of the brain and central nervous system plus its profound euphoric effects, have been known for centuries. Cocaine has been used medicinally as a local anesthetic agent, but its addictive properties have minimized its modern daily use. Once considered a panacea for all sorts of ailments, Cocaine was readily available as the principle ingredient in patent medicines sold over the counter in the late 1800s and early 1900s. And indeed cocaine was the "secret" ingredient in the original recipe for Coca-Cola©.

Crack is one of the most popular street names of cocaine. It has been processed from hydrochloride to a free base for smoking. Crack cocaine is processed with ammonia or sodium bicarbonate and water and heated to remove hydrochloride thereby producing a form of cocaine that can be smoked. The term “crack” is associated with the cracking sound emitted when the mixture is heated probably due to the sodium bicarbonate.
Effects of cocaine use include constipation, intestinal damage, extreme nervousness, nerve damage, seizures, hallucinations, insomnia, paranoid delusions, violent behavior, increased blood pressure and heart rate and constricted blood vessels.
EXPLANATION OF THE TEST
Cocaine, derived from the leaves of the coca plant, is a potent central nervous system stimulant and a local anesthetic. Cocaine induces euphoria, confidence and a sense of increased energy in the user; these psychological effects are accompanied by increased heart rate, dilation of the pupils, fever, tremors and sweating. Cocaine is used by smoking, intravenous, intranasal or oral administration, and excreted in the urine primarily as benzoylecgonine in a short time. Benzoylecgonine has a longer biological half-life (5-8 hours) than cocaine (0.5-1.5 hours) and can generally be detected for 24-80 hours after cocaine use or exposure.
The COC test is based on the principle of the highly specific immunochemical reactions between antigens and antibodies, which are used for the analysis of specific substances in biological fluids. The sensitivity of the test is 300 ng/ml of COC.
